Tourist Attractions of Chandigarh

Capitol Complex

It comprises of 3 major buildings of the Secretariat, the Assembly, and the High Court - interlocked to one another as part of a subtle visual composition. Each of 3 buildings is an architectural wonder.

The Open Hand

One of the most significant tourist attractions in Chandigarh is a giant hand is built of metal sheets to rotate like a weathercock.

The Rock Garden

Sprawling over 12 acres of wooded land, the Rock Garden was actually sculpted out of urban debris by a humble road inspector called Nek Chand. Multicoloured fragments of china and waste ceramics, coal and other disposables have been turned into creative patterns and textures.

Sukhna Lake

This is an artificial lake created by building an artificial dam on a seasonal stream. It is a favourite halting place for various migratory birds flying from central Asia to India and vice-versa.

Rose Garden

Asia's largest rose garden is located in Chandigarh spreading over 30 acres of land. It has nearly 1600 varieties of roses. During the rose festival it is a splendid sight.

Temple of Goddess Chandi

The temple of Goddess Chandi (the goddess of Power) adorns the north border of city. It is considered one of the 12 Shakti Peethas for Hindus. The snow-white dome of the Temple is visible from across the lake.
